December 29 and 30th

Yesterday my friend Caroline and I went to Recoleta Cemetary. It was so cool but wierd at the same time. The people here and Buenos Aires put there money into the died by buying there family really expensive tomb stones and houses where their caskets are kept. We also had another fabulous lunch at a cafe. I had chicken, steamed vegetables, rice with olive oil and herbs and cafe after lunch. My friend had roasted vegetables and trout plus cafe. When we got back to the student apartment complex (after walking for about 2 hours) we went to the store and got dinner. We had Carne, potatoes, green beans, eggplant, and tomatoes/cucmbers with balsamic. It was the second time I had carne soooo good! We then hung out with the others and played cards and finally went to bed at 4 in the morning. My roommates would have been proud of me for staying up so late. The thing with Argentina that is a total culture shock is everyone sleeps in till 2-4 pm then stays up until 6-8am in the morning. Sunday's everyone has off and normally in the morning until 2pm the streets are pretty died. During the working week people are up earlier for work around 8am, but they still go to bed really late at night, probably 12 or 1am.

As for today, the time changed to being six hours ahead of californian time. I woke up at 11:25am and had a little breakfast then went with 3 new people in the student apartment house, kim, ashlan, and a boy (I forget his name, but only know he is from North Carolina). We all went back to Recolta and went to a street fair, then lunch, and I showed then the cemetary. Everyone really wanted to see Evitas grave. She is a famous president. We then walked back and its now 6pm. It is really hot here but not as hot as Thailand. I am trying to organize a trip possibly this next weekend to Mendoza with a couple people I met, Jared who is from Austraila (he lives in the wine industry district) and Georgia who is from Scottland. I want to take a plane, but it looks like it is going to be to costly. I guess I am going to have to rough it and take a bus for 13 hours. Supposively, the bus system is really nice and they have beds in them. I will let everyone know my plans. As for tonight, I think I am going to head back to Belgrano and rest. I didn't get much sleep last night so I am tried. Luckly I have a TV in my room that has one English channel TNT that actually plays some good movies. I also have some laundry to due, because it is so humid here you tend to go through a lot of clothes and I have some homework. Tomorrow is New Years eve, we are supposed to go out and have some fun! I will let everyone know how it goes. Hopw all is well back home. Love to all <3

Wed December 26 2007

Greeting,
Today I went to my first day of classes from 930 to130 pm. I have two other students in my class! The teacher is really good and I like the school a lot. After school, a girl named Caroline and I took the bus to American Express Bank where we waited for an hour and half to exchange our travelers checks. After the Bank we had an amazing lunch at a beautiful Cafe up the street from the Bank. It is now around 630pm and a lady named Regina is coming by the student apartment complex to take me to my homestay in Belgrano. I will let everyone know how things go. Belgrano is about 40 minutes away and 20 minutes by subway to the school. Not to bad. I am loving Argentina, the people are so nice and caring, not to mention helpful too. The weather is beautiful about 70-75 degrees with a little wind. I also finally got my cell phone working the number is 011 15-5-895-8000, call me! I will Blog more tomorrow

Christmas 2007

Hola Merry Christmas,
I made it safely to Argentina!I am staying with a homestay in congreso. I am only staying here until tomorrow, then I am going to Belgrano to stay with Nilda. The flight was ok, the flight attendents were rude from Texas. I met a girl named Livy from Canada. When I got to Buenos Aires I was taken by Taxi to Roses apartment. Fifteen other people are staying here. At first I was a little nervous because everyone spoke only spanish, but when I met other students in the apartment, some from Texas,Virgina, Arizona, and Chicago all of which spoke English. Today we are going to Mass and having Christmas dinner at 10pm tonight. Hopefully I can stay up that late. Tomorrow I will be going to my new home stay. Everything is going great and I am looking forward to seeing all the sites and University. Everyone is really nice so far. Love to all, Carly
